What a lovely rose. I don’t know what it is, but does it flower just once in spring or repeat? Also are you aware of the Help Me Find website? If you get a membership you can use their advanced search engine, which might help you to ID. There is also an Antique Roses forum here for people who love the old roses from the past century and this one looks like an antique rose. So you might want to post there if you don’t get answers here. But most people on that forum do frequent this one as well.

Dorothy Perkins

Take a look at the photos. The leaves look different and I don't see fringed stipules on DP. Could it be Russeliana which being a multiflora hybrid has fringed stipules, but the colour is all over the map? Is it fragrant?

I think it only blooms once (I always visit my parents in the late summer and have never seen it bloom since I lived there).

Thanks Vaporvac, I agree the foliage doesn't match Dorthy Perkins. I didn't know that multiflora hybrids had fringed stipules, that's a huge help in narrowing it down. My mom describes it as having no real fragrance, while the Russeliana page describes it as having fragrant foliage, so I don't think that that one specifically is a match, but it sounds like it is probably a multiflora hybrid of some sort.

Dorothy Perkins has fringed stipules. Though it is listed as a wichurana hybrid, it behaves much like a multiflora hybrid.

Most of the ramblers of that era are of mixed enough parentage that its a coin flip which way they are classed.

Thanks mad_gallica! Googling around for more pictures of Dorothy Perkins roses, I found this one: https://roguevalleyroses.com/rose/dorothy-perkins/ which shows the fringed stipules, as you say. It also shows the same density of blooms and the sparse large thorns, and shows the same color pattern of pale newly opening buds and pale outer petals. This other page: https://www.parksidenursery.co.uk/buyroses/dorothy-perkins-rambling-rose also shows the fringed stipules, although the bud density seems higher (although I don't know if that could be a matter of how well maintained the roses are, and some of the flower bunches in the first picture in my post actually show 5-7 blooms in a single bunch). Another discussion of a very similar looking rose found growing along a road side in Missouri ( https://garden.org/thread/view/108285/Help-identifying-naturalized-pink-roses-in-Missouri/ ) seemed to settle on Dorothy Perkins as a likely candidate.
