Tending a garden is a refuge when our hearts are broken.

So sorry for your loss. We are in NY as well and it’s hard to explain to friends elsewhere the emotional trauma even though we luckily didn’t get sick from it. Gardening has been my escape as well. I bought more roses this spring than I should have. My neighbor who didn’t garden before is growing herbs on her patio. She explained that she just had to watch something grow to get through this period.

I do agree that being in lockdown has had it's moments. I think a lot of people have slowed down and taken time to smell the roses!

My condolences...losing a mother is so hard. Good you have your garden.

I'm sorry about the loss of your mother, I lost my father at a young age of 59 due to cancer. But this so called hoax killed 1,300 people in my town. Some of those people were in their 30's and 40's with no underlying conditions and they died. Two of them were firefighters. I know other people on more of a personal level compared to the covid support group I'm in who got extremely ill and almost died from covid. I know it happens but I don't know anyone who died from complications of the flu. If my mother didn't get covid of which she passed away from it 6 days following her diagnosis, she'd be here now. Aleksandra, you're free to think what you like but the fact remains this is a virus and it unquestionably affects people's health and it can be fatal.

Keep in mind the economy can recover and spring back, people who are gone can't. Regardless of thoughts on the virus iteself, I wrote this because of my mother's loss. I imagine she has a garden of her own in heaven and she's looking down on us. She'd want all of humanity to be kind to one another and to value the gift of life through these difficult times.

Marigold - breathe. This person is a fool. You have suffered a terrible loss to an uncaring virus. Nestle in with your family and your garden.

I am so sorry for your loss. When I lost loved ones, I p!anted a rose or other perennial in their memory. Every spring, they bring me great joy. Like the love we share in our families, it keeps growing even when we are apart. I wish you peace.
