Hello, I've been reading as much as I can in this forum about growing roses. So many posts inspired me to get into them this spring and I planted quite a few in my gardens around my house.

I am worried that I planted some new roses too close to my pool's edge foundation. The foundation is on a slight hill, and is 3 ft tall off of the ground. I planted six David Austin Roses along this foundation:

2 Jubilee Celebration

2 Carding Mill

2 Imogen

I planted them about 4 ft apart, maybe a little more. There are no other plants back there besides some wildflowers that came back from the seeds I planted last year.

My worry is that I planted them too close to the foundation for them to spread out. There is plenty of room on the one side of the plants that faces outward, but the sides of the shrubs that are closest to the foundation, are anywhere from 1 to 1.5 ft out from the foundation.

I planted so many climbing roses around the property as my first project about 2 weeks ago, that I think I just forgot that these were shrubs and didn't need to be at a 45 degree angle pointed towards a wall.

I planted them 2 days ago and they seem to be doing well. Is it a good idea to dig them up gently today and move them further out from the pool's wall? The pool is sort of an infinite style edge, which is why there's 3 ft tall wall of foundation on that hill that I was hoping to have the roses cover and peak over the top of.

If it won't harm the roses, I can move them back from the wall today. Will they grow outward towards the sun anyways? Or is it safe to move them today and give them equal breathing room on all sides? I can't believe I forgot they were shrubs and not climbers. Gardening brain fog I guess.

This is my first year really getting into roses after planting some knockout shrubs around my gardens over the past three years and watching them do so well.

I'm in zone 5b in NY. I can try to post some pictures today once the sun is fully up but I figure re-planting these before the sun is high in the afternoon might be the best idea?

Thanks for any tips and help with this, I'm really excited to get into roses after being a bit intimidated for so many years. Hopefully this one area will do well since the buds I've seen open on these six plants so far are pretty amazing.
