I wouldn't put anything over the bed. I would hang art over the night tables. Get some art that is rectangular/vertical, the width of the night tables and taller than the headboard.

We had someone make us a painting and I hung it with a special hanging thing that keeps it secure etc.

I like this idea for your wall. It adds texture like macrame but it's not too primitive looking. I'm not crazy about how these are hung, IMO it's too linear. I'd probably try 3 over 3.

I agree with the pro, bigger nightstands for the size of the bed, and you’ll find them more useful. How about painting that wall a color to compliment your bedding (I’m assuming you’ll get a cover for the comforter and some attractive pillows?). The bed and the moulding are beautiful btw.
