Looking for advice on how we can address the size of the fireplace surround without removing the hearth.

Our new family room has 3 challenges. The fireplace is too large for the space, the room lacks natural light and the layout is awkward for how we use the space. The current fireplace surround and hearth are cast concrete. Our original plan was to remove the existing surround and hearth and replace with a smaller version. Then place the tv over the fireplace and add a window near where the tv is now. The challenge in the plan is that replacing the hearth means flooring fixes we’d prefer to avoid. What we don’t know is can we replace the surround - with cast stone, tile, slab, etc but still use the existing hearth? What materials can we use on the existing hearth to tie it in with a new surround? Or is the hearth still too large and we should replace it? Are there better options to construction that we have not considered?

The room is 22' by 22', ceilings are 10' Fireplace surround is 6'6". Hearth is 9'6" wide and 12 inches tall.
