No more room in my flowerbeds

I have several hosta I had to remove that were under a maple tree . Getting choked out from the roots and getting smaller. I was sure I had killed my War Paint( right ) and after moving it twice decided if it was going to die it may as well do it in a pot. Thinking the other two were seedlings I grew and never discarded . Ferns may have been ones from the logging road finds that multiplied . Surprise of surprise War Paint was growing this spring and actually getting bigger leaves then since it was a baby. Now it along with a couple other are in arrangement on my back patio where I can keep an eye on it and give it some extra attention in a grouping it so deserves. Looked too lonely so potted up some ferns I have a few more plants I may add but it is raining and I feel lazy today so cleaned house and had a nap. German ivy in the blue pot grows into beautiful hanging plant. It was saved from last season and looked like dead stalks in the house but one of my favorite pot fillers tooCovid never bothers me to social distance.. I have my gardens

A couple of the hanging baskets I made up yesterday . Red handing Mazoo will fill in and one of my favorites for baskets

Everyone must be gardening in our area and plants are at a shortage so I use my seedlings for fillers and spillers

A succulent tower

Last is my Snowball bush starting to bloom.

Hope you enjoy a peak into my back yard

Faye

Your snowball viburnum is looking good with lots of blooms this year!

Nice succulent tower, very lush compared to the one community pot I have left.

Your hostas are looking great like always! I hope you'll show us more of your gardens this season.

Love your arrangement! Will borrow fern idea. I have more than a few pots though.

lindalana I have had fern that have been in cedar boxes I made ( yes I like woodworking too) and they wintered just fine for the past 5 years but they finally rotted out but the fern multiplied like crazy and did do not need to be protected in our Canadian winters. Any time some one uses my ideas I am honored so thank you . I went and planted into ceramic pots last season and then had to remove them so will never just plant them direct in them again. Will use a plastic insert and then it would be no problem . Live and learn

You have a great eye for design. Lovely garden vignettes! Post more pictures, please. I think you are more than "almosthooked."

You've done a great job with those arrangements. Very pleasing to look at.

May I ask what you like to use for media in the pots?

Newhostalady As for my special soil, it is what is in my veg garden that consists of compost, aged horse manure and general garden soil mixed with some from my last year's flowerpots that may have had some perlite in them. So that said... nothing special. I did put a baby diaper in the bottom of each pot to keep them moist longer. They seem to grow and after buying bags last year and spending tons of money on it , it never grew anything better then what I already had in the garden area. I see the earthworms crawl out of the pots from time to time so they must keep the clay from packing

You photos of your yard and plantings are inspiring (as in, Debra get up and get your planters planted!)

I know what you mean Debra. Seems I barely get anything done and then it rains and I have to start weeding again. With so few choices of plants I just make due with what I have but that being said , I posted these same pictures on a local garden site and I won$25 gift certificate to a nursery so when it comes in the mail, I can decide what I need and hopefully don't decide that I need another $50 too lol

Everything looks great and I especially love the blue pot. I need to make some hanging baskets with hosta. Never thought to include them.
