Fantastic. Are they always this healthy?

Oh, THANK YOU for posting Spins, Mad Gallica! I fell in love with this tough, hardy and lovely class of roses back in my MN days. Your thread will mean even more to me as time goes on. I am digging up my one remaining Spin cross, Stanwell Perpetual, and passing it along to John. Giving away SP would be heartbreaking, but John will give that amazing rose an even better home than I have, I know he will love SP at least as much as I do and I'm in a place where I just have to get all my old roses organized and the herd thinned out so I can give the remaining ones the attention they deserve.

Where did you get Doorenbos Selection? I got it years ago in a trade, but overestimated the vigor of the sucker and lost it the next year. I've been sort of on the lookout for it ever since, but haven't seen a sign of it.

Mad, I got my Doorenbos Selection from Vintage back in the day when I lived in Alaska. I brought it down here when I moved South. Leonard Heller tried to send me another in sucker form a couple of years ago, but that one did not make it. Corn Hill has it and sent 4 roses to me this Spring that are doing great. You should order one for next Spring if they are done shipping this Spring. Corn Hill worked out great, and you are a lot closer to them than I am. It is a delightful plant.

Thank you both for preserving these (now quite rare) Spins! What wonderful garden plants they make (especially in colder zones) and what delightful, living pieces of history. Karl Forster should be more widely grown. It is a beautiful thing! Carol

It is outstanding in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden -- or has been. The Garden is close until July, due to the Corona virus.
