That is a spent stalk....already bloomed.

Not everyone's practice by any means but unless the flowers are particularly showy - like the bright red ones that attract hummers - I find heuchera flowers too distracting from the foliage and not a big feature, so I cut them off when they appear :-) YMMV

They were planted by my builder’s landscaper, and I am digging them out for anyone who wants them today. I just thought if they were going to flower, I’d wait, but if not, out they go! Thanks.
