Restoring Victorian Bannister

Hi,

In the dream of restoring my Victorian bannister, I have stripped back all the thick layers of paint (using Peel Away), whilst sanding the rail spot areas began

appearing. It seems the wood rails have been stained, perhaps not correctly, now I have tried painstakingly to remove the stain with stripper and an orbit sander though it’s just not coming off. I fear any more sanding and I will ruin the beautiful handrail.

Please can anyone suggest how to completely remove this deep grained stain? or how to cover the spots with a stain or gel or glaze and perhaps stain the whole thing?

Thank you
