I have sedge ‘Ice Dance’ - Carex morrowii in the front of a foundation bed with other medium and tall grasses and a Japanese Maple. These sedges always seem to look ratty and they have formed a mat in the area they were planted in. Earlier this spring I cut them back hoping to get fresh leaves. I know it still early. This particular grass persists over the winter in my zone 6 and whatever happens to them during the winter, that's what presents itself the next season.

I'm interested in some replacement grasses. If you can suggest some cultivars, I'd appreciate it. The remaining grasses are clump forming grasses. Thank you.
