in seedlings.. we call them terminal whites.. and as soon as a very white plant uses up it seed pod energy.. it dies.. because it cant convert light into energy ...

the same will happen with this one.. if you separate it ..

enjoy it in situ.. and keep us posted ..

if it can survive.. still attached .... it might end up reversing the coloration... to white center and blue edge ... you can sorta see that happening on it ... im too lazy to see if there is a reversed version .. maybe later..

Do you think the whole thing will die? I thought El Nino was a sport of Halcyon. Will be interesting to watch.

it wont necessarily die ... if it remains attached to the mother plant .. but it could .. time will tell ...

I should have been clearer. The white leaves will die. The main plant should be fine. It's not just hostas . I have some variegated Solomon's Seal that's turned all white. Pretty, but a lethal mutation.

The partially green leaves should be fine, too.
