Patterns Aplenty

A lot of the patterns are nearly finished blooming, so I thought I would do a post devoted to them.

Here is a section of my side garden that is all patterns. From left to right: Blue Jay Tapestry, Jungle Queen, Core Values, Victorian Garden Heaven's Applause, Cobalt Rings, Righ of Triton and Kiss of Paradise.

Nile Printcess started blooming yesterday. It's one that the couple I hired to mow last years after my surgery weed whacked to smithereens. I've been waiting a long time to see it bloom. (The petal color is really a bit darker than my photo shows.)

The older Lambertson, Metallic Blue Eyes

Kiss of Paradise only has a couple of buds left. I sure hope it reblooms this year. It has before.

Faberge Easter has three today, but the third one was facing a different direction.

Rings of Triton

Wheel of Time has had a hard time opening recently. This is the most open I've seen it in a week.

Cobalt Rings

New seedling today: Aztec Headdress x Banded Broadbill #3 - No ornate pattern, but a clean, pleasing petal color of light peach. The bloom is almost 7 inches. My husband usually doesn't care for the patterned daylilies, but he likes this one.

Here's a sibiling that bloomed a couple of days ago. It also has clean petal color, and I like the ruffled edge. This is a smaller bloom - 5.5 inches.

Here are a few more from today:

Blue Jay Tapestry - This is the first year of three that the blooms have been registered size. In the past, they were in the 4 inch range.

Silent Sentry ffo - This one is normally in the 4-inch range, diploid.

Lovely patterns all Debra. I can't choose between Nile Princess, Kiss of Paradise and Cobalt Rings, but probably Kiss of Paradise. Beautiful!.

I like your first photo, that is what I want to see in my garden! I think Nile Princess and Kiss of Beauty are my favorites, by a very lean margin though. I always admire Cobalt Rings, and your seedling is a looker. I like Silent Sentry too. Well, I really like all of them. By the way, I hope you keep me posted on Whether Cindy's Tie Dye blooms for you. Mine has not scaped, but it is one I had to move because of the deck. I think I lost a fan in the process. I don't think Cindy likes being messed with! Jamaican Love has bloomed, looked better in photos actually. But it is really short and blooms smaller, so we'll see how it looks next year. Rainbow Dragon has put out a scape. Funny that it was a small fan that put out the scape, several larger ones are doing nothing.,

Nancy - Cindy's Tie Dye has two scapes with a few buds on each. The scapes are very short - maybe because I moved the plant in April. Being an evergreen, Jamaican Love probably didn't like being planted in fall. Scapes here were always about 24 inches tall, and the blooms were 6 inches. Maybe it will rebloom for you with more normal stats. I would think Rainbow Dragon would be scaping on all the fans. That one photographs much prettier than it really is. Jamaican Love is the prettiest when night temps are cool.

Thanks Kay - Kiss of Paradise is my favorite of the three you liked. But the other two are very nice lilies.

Debra, two more lovely seedlings, I like these subtle patterns. I think I figured it out, subtle is my pattern vibe! I love that old Lambertson, so delicate, wish they liked the north more. I like Kiss of Paradise, true yellow base for you??? I never grow tired of looking at the garden shots.

Sherry - Kiss of Paradise has a light yellow petal color here. I'm not sure what you mean by true yellow. It is not cream. Thanks for the comments on the seedlings!

Nile Princess and Kiss of Paradise really stand out here. But Cobalt Rings is soooo pretty!! Seedlings also continue to look very good. Nice post of lots of goodies!

Kate - Nile Princess and Kiss of Paradise are very different looking dayliliies from the usual patterned types. They both came from Jack Carpenter's diploids that were converted. Pierce has gotten some amazing ones from those Carpenter genes. including Blue Jay Tapestry and Facemaker. Cobalt Rings can be pretty, but sometimes that lavender looks muddy. The petal color is not as clean as on most Petit cultivars.
