Please help with my avocado

Leaves are browning, wilting then dropping off. New leaves are growing, but do not last.
The plant is about six months old, I grew it from a seed. The problem only started after I put it in soil.
It is outdoors with about four hours sunshine a day in USDS10 (Los Angeles area). I am currently watering weekly.
