Simply white on white oak floors

I am finishing up a renovation and need to choose a stain for my white oak floors. I love a light natural look. i love the look of bona Nordic seal but my floor guy (through the contractor) has not used the product so does Not want to use it. Has anyone done minwax simply white on white oak floors? We are deciding between that or natural (or potentially some combination), with bona mega one water based finish. Attached is a photo with the samples, an inspiration picture of a friends floor that I am trying to match, and a picture of my space with the unfinished wood. Would love any feedback or advice, and any pictures from those who have used these products. Thanks!!

@Johnson Flooring Co Inc thank you!! I love the look of Nordic seal and would love to use it but my flooring guy is not comfortable with it. So I’m trying to find a similar look that is more within his wheelhouse

Bona is a floor finish and Minwax Simply White is a stain. Two entirely different products.

Yes we are considering miniwax simply white stain with bona mega one finish.

Bona makes a white stain that you can be assured is compatible with their finishes. Minwax may have a formulation that requires 72 hours of curing before coating with waterborne finish.

Do you have a separate area where the floor contractor can do a smaller area with NordicSeal first? Two coats of NordicSeal might not be as white as your target picture but I think it would be attractive.

Bona Mega will 'amber' the colour of your floor = snick more yellow than what you see here. If you use NordicSeal or "simply white" by Minwax (please oh please do NOT mix the chemicals) then you will be adding 'yellow' to the white you tried so hard (and paid so much) to achieve.

If you want a tough clear coat (no yellow) then go with Bona Traffic or Bona Traffic HD. Mega is the 'cheap and chearful' option in the Bona line up. It is easy to work and gets the GC/installer a GREAT mark-up (they make more money).

So long as the flooring guy can work a sealer, s/he *should be able to work NordicSeal. That being said, if s/he is only comfortable with Bona Mega (or Minwax) then I would say s/he hasn't updated their skills to include the TOP LINE water based products and their sealants.

Buyer beware. If you want a white on white oak, you may have to upgrade your installer as well as your flooring budget.

Emma - what did you decide to do? I have the same dilemma - we installed 5" white oak floors and my flooring guy will only use minwax. I was wondering if the 50% simply white and 50% natural gave you the look you were wanting.
