Aesthetically, I prefer the hog wire, but I think black chainlink may be maintenance free, whereas any with wood would not be.

We want to keep it under $10k so didn’t consider wrought iron, though I love the look of that. Chain link ends up being $5k, California is $6k, and Hog wire $10k. I intitialy loves the California since I thought it would blend better with the neighbors. But the more I look at it the more I think it could look sloppy.

I think chain link would be the most secure. You can always plant bushes to camouflage it.

Consider doing chain link across the back portion of your yard, but at the front of the house (or where it can be seen from the street) using aluminum fencing that appears more stylish...emulating black wrought iron. My back yard is densely wooded. We used black CL in the back through the wooded area and, for the sake of our neighbors, used the aluminum fencing on the sides and front where it was visible from our street. The CL is less expensive, but our neighbors like the looks of our aluminum fencing.

How big is your dog? The hog wire wouldn't keep in small dogs, they could climb right through (and other critters can get in). The chain link would be more secure.

Visually the hog wire definitely looks the best of the three. But it sounds like it's the most expensive and won't stop small dogs from getting in or out. I also think the hog wire goes best with the style of your house and your porch railing.

Our dog is 50lbs, so not too small. I think any of the styles will keep him in. He’s 8 and not much of a jumper.

Of the three, I personally like hog wire best.... but I think perhaps in your yard the chain link might suit better.

The hog wire is my favourite overall, but I understand the votes that suggest matching the black chair link.

I have brown chain link across the back of my yard and it "disappears" against the wooded area. kinda like a bunch of branches, you don't even notice it. Also great for my climbing vines i.e. autumn joy clematis and star jasmine.
