If it's not self-illuminated, the number goes under one of the garage lights. (Unless you want to mystify the "pizza in x minutes or free" guys.)

Always place them where any emergency personnel can see them easily and clearly from the street, day or night. Also, make sure the numbers you choose are large enough and stand out from the wall they are on to be easily seen. Good lighting over or next to the numbers is essential.

My preference would be over the garage door. You can get self lighted numbers so you don’t need an additional light.

If you can’t easily see the house BEFORE you drive past, you also need numbers at the road. Emergency personnel spend way too much time searching!

I would place the numbers to the left of the garage door, under the light, so that it is
Illuminated and near the entry.

At the street and where Jen suggested. You need two for emergency vehicles.

And then the city comes along and paints them on the gutter at the left edge of each driveway!! LOL Truth is the City should have an ordinance so each home is the same so emergency vehicles know exactly where to LOOK for the number. Ours are required at the right of the property on an ugly pole five feet in the air.

We do have the numbers painted on the curb. Going to order a set of house numbers and get them up. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I vote for a vertical orientation on the garage wall below the lantern nearest the entrance.

You will need one at the road by your driveway/mailbox. If yo didn't have the flag, I'd suggest that porch pillar.

If you don't want the numbers on your house, you could put numbers on a treated post with a solar light with motion sensor in your front yard, with or without hanging brackets for flower pots.

If you are inclined to add a wood rectangle planting box (w/plastic box inside it) in front of your sidewalk as it turns, you could attach your numbers to that.

I have to look for house numbers regularly. It drives me nuts when you can't tell the numbers by the mailbox and/or the house numbers are obscured by bushes or flags.
