any cold event in the last few weeks ..

i find it interesting.. the flowers slightly under the canopy above.. bloomed.. but none above ... that makes me thin the buds above were harmed.. either over winter or due to frost freeze ...

same with newly emerging leaves.. perhaps the event caused such .. regardless.. they are green. and doing their work ...

regardless... i doubt there is anything to do about it ...or in fact.. that anything need be done about it ...

I live on Long Island. The weather has been pretty mild, not cold. Wasn't a bad winter either.

There are only flowers on one of the branches actually, not so much not above a specific line. you can see that better in the 2nd picture.

Have you had any rain? How long has the tree been in the ground? Here in my part of northern New England It has been quite dry, I think less than 3” in the last 6 weeks, so it may need a bit of water. Check the soil several inches down to see how moist it is. You don’t want soggy, but you also don’t want dry, and my soil has been powdery dry up until the little bit of rain we got this week.

This looks similar to mine in CT. I had no blooms this year. Someone suggested maybe it didn’t go fully dormant because of mild winter but others in neighborhood look great. It was planted 2 years ago and did bloom last year. I think it looks taller and has no leaves so I’m not worried yet.

Mine was planted almost exactly 1 year ago. i will check the soil for water depth, but should be getting enough water.

I would be highly inclined to dismiss that as the issue!! My winters are always very mild compared to just about anywhere on the east coast but dormancy is never a concern and dogwoods of all types thrive. Kousas are just now coming into their bloom season.

I can say that they are not the slightest bit drought tolerant so factor that into the equation.

my landscaper checked it out, said the tree is healthy amd nost likely needs some nore water. will give it a shot(of water) and see how it responds. thanks for the help
