Bench in bedroom

I'm furnishing my guestroom with new and old furniture. The bed, side tables and dresser are new. The mirror and bench are old.

I googled benches in bedrooms and the bench is always placed at the foot of the bed. I have room for the bench, but placing it at the foot of the bed seems odd. The bench looks "too high" for the platfrom bed. Can I place the bench elsewhere in the bedroom?

I bought a Casper mattress. Since the mattress is heavy, I will be putting onto the bed once I figure out the placement of the furniture.

Pictures 1 and 2 : Bench at foot of bed

Pictures 3 and 4: Bench against the wall at the foot of bed

Pitctures 5 and 6 : Bench against the wall at the side of the bed.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Which doorway is the entrance to the room? It would be helpful to have a layout of the room, with dimensions.

here is the dimensions of the room::

Door on the left is the closet. The door at the bottom is the entrance to the room.

I know it is nice for the bed to face the door, but I don't think it works well in your room. Instead, I would try the bed on the long, uninterrupted wall (to the right on you images), place the dresser where the bed is, and place the bench at the end of the bed. One reason the bench looks odd is that it is distinctly different in color and style than the rest of the furniture....so I would paint the "old" pieces so they blend better with the new furnishings - or else I don't think it will look like it belongs anyplace in the room.

Sammie J and einportlander - thank you for replying. Is it necessary to have the bench at the foot of the bed?

It is your room - do what pleases you! Nothing is "necessary" when it comes to decor.

Wait until you get the mattress on. I like mine at the foot of the bed so I can put the bedspread on something easily when I go to bed.

You might want to consider a luggage rack also.

IMO that bench is not really a good style for a platform bed . IMO the main style is quite modern so mixing a very traditional bench in this case does not work. No you do not have to have the bench at the foot of the bed, in a guest room it is often used to hold a suitcase for both packing and unpacking . I would look at a bench 18" high no sides and in a color from the bedding and save that bench for a better space. I do not see any advantage to moving the bed but you do need something on that wall facing the bed so maybe a shallow shelf that could have a TV wall hung above and work as a desk with a chair at it . I also have a coffee maker in my guest room as many of our guests are really early risers . I might try solver leafing the mirror frame I find the wood a bit off with the dresser. You need lamps maybe with glass bases in a color. If you post your bedding it helps too.

thanks everyone for your responses!!! I decided not to use the bench. I moved the dresser facing the bed and planning to put a tv above the dresser. My next dilemma is adding a chair in the corner. The corner is rather small. It's 39 1/2 inches from the wall to the dresser. I was thinking of putting an IKEA chair, but it's to large. Can anyone suggest a modern and inexpensive chair? Thanks!!!

Here is the latest layout of the guestroom

Here is the IKEA chair: the dimensions are 32 5/8 width , 30 3/4 inches depth, and 29 1/2 inches height.

the EKERO has a smaller footprint, but looks the same. What color is bedspread?

Kathi - I'm getting white bed sheets. I haven't decided on blanket color? what do you suggest?

all my linens and bedding are white. I like the guest room to look like an upscale hotel! I even bought a wonderfully sturdy wooden luggage rack. Color comes from the wall art.

Something to compliment the picture. Those examples look lovely.

Lulu - thank you for the pictures. They definitely gives me inspiration.

Kathi - My daughter painted the picture. She wants to paint me new ones for the guest room. Once she's done, I will use the colors from it to decorate the room.

    Thanks
