Will you share a photo of the space? What colors are the floor and trim? What color is the couch?

The couch is a sort of brown unfortunately. I’m thinking of covering it with a slip cover. We are going to paint the trim bright white. The space is basically a rectangle, dining table and chairs. In the process of recovering them. The floor is dark hardwood

Greys and wood tones are both neutral but they often don't play nice together because one is cool-toned and one is warm. Without seeing your room or really having any clues about your decor style, I would suggest a generously sized rug that combines the two colors and also has a colorful accent like blue or orange
