A chilly Sunday

It is quite chilly today. Cool north wind. But it sure beats the heat!

I've come to the conclusion [that I've tried to ignore] that there are no perfect years for daylilies. Some of mine love the weather and didn't mind the late frost, have lots of buds from tons of rain. Others are very low on buds, even ones that always perform well. It is probably good that they vary or some years we'd have next to none and other years so overwhelmed we couldn't enjoy them all.

Becky Lynn. She is so pretty and reliable. A number of years I thinned part of the clump and left a few plants alone. Since then, the one half of the clump blooms, then the other half. Right now the second half is just starting to send scapes. I wish all daylilies could do that-no depending on reblooms.

gold noid. Loaded with buds.

Hot Wheels, also loaded.

Isolde poly. Only one scape, none last year, pathetic ones the year before. But it is so pretty.

Something else was blooming too but I forget what and it was too low in the leaves to get a pic.

It's great that some many of yours are loaded with buds and having a great year. Lavender Dew is my favorite. It's a shame about Isolde's poor performance. It is such a pretty bloom. Kent's Favorite Two makes a beautiful clump!

I agree with Debra, it’s a shame Isolde is a poor performer, I’ve admired your posts of it in the past. That’s an interesting Quirk with Becky Lynn but a nice one for continuous bloom, it’s a nice daylily.

Lavender Dew is lovely in that clump. I had Kent’s Favorite Two at one time and always liked the red color on it. I like the bold gold one too. And I agree with your conclusion!!

Isolde is a beautiful bloom, Brad. I really like Prismatic for the shape and the color. Becky Lynn is quite pretty and so nice to have different bloom seasons for the same plant.

Nice blooms! Becky Lynn is my favorite today. We almost bought Isolde a few years back and maybe it's good we didn't.

I know what you mean about the weather. We had late frosts and some daylilies were damaged and others weren't. Now some are putting up scapes with low bud counts and other look like trees. We have seen some scapes that look like dowel rods and others not so great.
