Yes, it is toxic, primarily leaves and berries. But then, a great many popular plants are. I'm not sure I understand the concern unless you plan to drink or eat this concoction.

I would definitely not want to smear Privet on my skin. Apart from the toxicity, I personally dislike the smell. It’s not universally enjoyed. So although you might like it people you are in close proximity to might not agree😕

I think the same could be said of any fragrance....
