Hi everyone! We recently just bought a house and are considering getting built-ins around our fireplace for toy storage and decor display.

I have to decide if I want the built ins on both sides of the fireplace:

1. The entire length to the wall. Con: no room for curtain on right side. If hung, it would cover some of window. Not a huge issue since windows are so large, but now the decorating space is a lot bigger which may be too much and take away from stone.

2. Go from the fireplace stone measuring 48” (cabinet width) leaving about 12” on each side open. Pro: pocket for curtain. Con: open gap on left side

3. Leave a gap between stone and cabinet, and cabinet and wall, so they look like 2 built in stand alone cabinets

4. Scrap this idea and just get 2 chests and decorate on top.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I need to let our millworker know tomorrow! 🙄
