If you can keep a marble bathroom countertop "perfect" for 7 years, you can probably do the same with your kitchen.

If you can accept etching, then you will not have any trouble. The sealers keep stains at bay. I have no problem with the etching on my marble at all.

Marble is gorgeous, no 2 ways about it. If you have your heart set on it, and you understand the upkeep, go for it.

I have leathered quartzite, and nothing has harmed it in about 8 years, and it's NOT babied in the least.

Has anyone seen Mont Blanc quartzite used in a kitchen? I saw some slabs and they were quite lovely, but the veins were a bit more linear than I would like. (Yes, I am extremely fussy!) Taj Mahal quartzite varies immensely in tome and colour. It is difficult to find a very light one with delicate markings

The thing that concern's me about marble in a kitchen vs in a bathroom, is that unless some people have strange habits, acidic liquids such as lemon, vinegar, tomato sauce, pickles or red wine usually don't end up on bathroom counter tops, but any of those will etch marble very quickly.

If you have your marble honed, you can blend most light etches with a Scotch-brite type pad, or some alumina polishing powder.
