regarding the trees - at least half of them survived. You have more time to take care of them, now you have fewer. I’m really sorry, I can imagine how upset you are, but don’t give up on container trees.

I too am sorry you lost so many of your 'babies'... and a member of your family. Traveling this time of year is hard on plants in pots. I've found you can't trust a watering system when you're gone.

Bob I’m so sorry for your devastating loss. I Know how you feel though so far 2020 hasn’t been a fantastic year for our Family either. I truly hope youre not leaving the forum! I’m sure everyone would miss you if you left. because of you I got the courage to try grafting for the first time and finally got all the tools for it that you’ve recommended not to mention get into other trees like jaboticaba and figs and persimmons! I’m sure amy would say the same! Take care my friend!

Oh no Bob! I am so sorry about your loss. It’s a difficult time indeed. I also lost achildhood friend and an aunt due to covid. Don’t throw to towel and give you time. We don’t want to lose you here!

Bob, that is very unfortunate. Although a setback I think many of your plants will bounce back. May be a chance to reshape them. Hang in there and you did the right thing to put family first. Consider this forum to be your second family - a virtual one - and so you need to stick around here to spread your knowledge and enthusiasm.

Bob, I agree with every body!! Please stay and keep a few that did survive. Your potted trees are so beautiful and I have learned much from you too.

By the way, at times I feel trapped by all the ones I have to in pots and I can find no one to ever help me to water when I am gone. So I have not gone away for more than a day any time of the year( Keep plugging now our friend)

After further thinking I will continue to stay with this forum. Having some real good friends here made all the difference. I wish to have more, but that is wishful thinking.

I still have some old timers that seems to disagree with me on a regular basis. To stop that I tell everybody just what I do and only go out of my way when ask something specific.

My trees had a lot of leaves and fruit dropped, going forward giving them extra care, they might recover, I guess there is always a next year. Out of 6 kids, lost 4, just one brother and me left. 81 me, 84 my brother. So there might not be a next year.

If I have 6 good friends now , might have 12 by the end of the year.

Bob that’s great to hear! everyone wouldve been devastated to see you go I know it would be one less reason for me to visit this forum. You know bob our great grandmother was the only one left of her siblings for over 20 years She was devastated at every loss and so I can imagine how you feel but she lived to be well over 100 years old so here’s to next year and a couple more decades! She told me that the trick to life is to have something to wake up for and for me and a lot of us here I’m sure our trees are one reason! Hopefully some more people will come back on more frequently! bob by next spring your trees will be back to its glory with your care Can’t wait to see them spring back!

That’s sad bob I really miss brian I didn’t know he was having problems after retirement and so does everyone on the forum I’m sure, but I’m so glad you decided to rejoin us it really has made my day! :) us too bob me I’m always so glad for members on this forum especially you and Amy and mike and Laura amazing people!

I agree bob I think it’s very possible to get such solid forward thinking members :) you should’ve seen how fast the citrus pre order sold out this year at our local nursery I think there are a lot of people just getting into citrus and Just starting their addiction lol I’m sure they’ll find their way here.

Bob, I'll come on if you stay! I have been away from the forums for a while just because so much was going on, but I finally came back on, and smiled because it felt so friendly to see familiar usernames!

KC, excellent, we need all the help we can get. Need a few more members that are very knowledgeable to help in difficult situations, so that many members feel comfortable staying

My problem is this, besides citrus I do grow a variety of inground fruit trees. Houzz has way too many forums that are not doing well. Citrus could be bigger, more members but it’s not nessesary to be big. Smaller group with dedicated members is good enough for me. I am just looking for that quality small forum, everybody get to know one another.

Bob you’d better stay!! I’m so sorry to hear about your trees. I can only imagine how upsetting it would be. However, your trees are strong like you, so they will recover. I thought of you today when I grilled a whole fish, wondering how you cook all the ones you catch. I got two big rockfish at the farmer’s market. It’s been a while since I gutted a fish, but Ana helped me :). It was delicious! Hang in there Bob. Post pics as your trees bounce back please.
