Now things are starting to pop

Finally a day under 95 without wind and a passing cloud every now and then so that I could get a couple pictures in.

I love this daylily. Large flat blooms that always have a beautiful but subtle coloration to them. A polychrome if you will. I think I could take pictures of it all day:

Sour Puss:

This is a new one for me this year. I love the color. Seems to be on the tall side and shows good heat resistance so far:

New Tangerine Twist:

I'm not fond of eyed daylilies, but this is the closest I've seen to blue (the eye ring) in my climate:

Linda Sierra:

Everyone knows how I love my yellows. One of my backbone yellow daylilies. Does change to a more mellow yellow as the day progresses, but never bleaches out like some do.

Maryl - If you're happy with Dearest Valentine, that's all that matters. In the summer heat, they fade a bit by noon. I hope it gets better and better for you!

I'm happy to see Dearest Valentine finally bloomed for you! But it looks so different for you than it does in my garden. It seems to already have faded color. All your other pictures look so vibrant, and it looks drab by comparison. Was this picture taken in the morning or in the afternoon? Yours looks like my blooms do at the end of a 95 degree day. I hope subsequent blooms will have more color for you.

We have grown New Tangerine Twist for years. It's a nice daylily. I like the color of Sour Puss and of course, Dearest Valentine is lovely. SC Irish Illumination is a good grower for us.

Beautiful photos Maryl. Sour Puss is an unusual name but I like the bloom. It is always amazing how blooms can look different in different parts of the country. It will be awhile before Dearest Valentine blooms here. No scapes yet.

Debra: Yes, I was happy to see Dearest V finally bloom. It looks close to what you have posted on the database to my eyes. Maybe yours is a little deeper pink in a couple pictures but I attributed that to time of day, camera, sunlight etc. This picture was taken at noon. Heck, I was happy with it. We will see what happens next......Nan: How interesting that you have New Tangerine Twist too. It drove me batty looking it up. I kept getting the old Joiner double "Tangerine Twist" popping up before I finally realized that the 'NEW' wasn't just advertising hype but part of its name.........Thanks Laura, Nancy, Sherry and Kate. It took a few years for Sour Puss to catch on, now it's a good bloomer, without ever hanging up, and the nuances of color keep changing with the weather and time of day. Love it......Maryl

Julia: The name Sour Puss I think applied to it's greenish tinge in the early AM. I think a lot of people at one time, and maybe even now, try for a green daylily. Usually the green for me just turns out to be an acid yellow, but Sour Puss is a wonder about changing, so every once in awhile I can see the green tinge bleeding out from the throat.......Maryl

Maryl, Sour Puss looks like an interesting one, I like dearest Valentine and you Googies is really a nice one. I got that one after seeing posts on here. I have some of those non-negotiable oldies too. They are reliable and I like them, so they stay. Glad to see it picking up for you.
