Thanks for posting these, Debra! They are so different. I know I never saw these till you posted a photo of them a few years ago. So nice they are still in your garden. I didn’t know you had three different plants

They do tend to self sow, and you get what you get. I enjoy them a lot though!

Sherry - I have 23 plants in all of the self-seeded rudbeckia. So the eyelashed ones make up a small percentage.

All of the rudbeckia I have are self seeded, they just appeared in my gardens a few years ago. I wish I had some interesting ones like those “eyelash“ ones.

Sherry - I didn't know I had three either. These are biennial, so they only live two years. Then I get new ones. I always have fewer eyelash ones than any of the others. I can mark those plants and send you some of their seed if you want. That's if the gold finches leave any.

I'm kind of at a loss in picturing your description of eyelash daylilies. Are you saying that the eyelash part is not on the petal itself , but rather separate growths jutting out from the center over the petal?.............I think they are so striking..........Maryl

The lashes or hairs grow out of the petals. They are not attached to the eye of the flower.
