Camellia dieback

After much research I ended up removing my camellia that had dieback disease as I was afraid that the disease would spread to other camellias in the area. Knowing that this is a fungal infection is there anything that I need to do to the soil where the camellia was planted? Should I try to plant in this area again in the future or never plant there again for fear of a new plant contacting the disease? It was upsetting to lose the plant and I hope to avoid that in the future.
