Musical Medley - I grew this one for more than a decade in a pot. It was always three fans and always about 20 inches tall and 8-9 buds per scape. Two falls ago I put it in the ground. It's registered as 22 inches tall with a 6.5 inch bloom. This year it's 30 inches tall with 7-inch blooms on scapes with fabulous branching and bud counts in the mid-20s. With seven fans now, it is a fabulous clump. I had a good clump shot, but accidentally erased from my camera card. I hope I'll have an opportunity to take another one. Here's a single flower.

That first group was a good assortment. I may change my mind, but the more I see of them the more I find myself liking the simplicity of a white line around the edges of the purples. Nordic Soul for instance is very appealing........... I can see why they call it Bat King with those wings (tepals) stuck out..........What a gorgeous pattern on Feathered Fingers. It does look feathered. So interesting........You know how I feel about English Lavender. It's just gorgeous to me..............Maryl

So hard to pick stand outs, I’m picking Musical Medley, what an improvement in the garden bed! It’s nice to see Zuzu’s Treasure, I didn’t remember that it was a late bloomer. Mine looks good but now I know why there are no scapes yet. I love the ruffles on Symphony of Praise.

So hard to just pick one or two. I do love the color of English Lavender, Sword of Justice is lovely, Regina Sitgo is a red that really appeals so you know I like it and Clown Parade is a favorite. There are too many beauties to choose just one.

Sherry - Yes, Zuzu's Treasure blooms ML. It still has blooms here when the lates are finishing. It almost feels like Musical Medley is a brand new plant with it's bigger blooms and more robust plant habit. It's really impressed me this season.

Maryl - I know you love that English Lavender bloom. I wish I could find its sweet spot. I remember you liked Nordic Soul last year too. Feathered Fingers always looks good, and the pattern is consistent on every bloom.

kay - Thanks for your comments. I think Regina Sitko is your kind of plant. It clumps up pretty fast, and blooms for a long time - as long as deer don't eat it.

Sword of Justice is a pretty color! And English Lavender is lovely. Regina Sitco shines! There are lots to look at here! And don’t you love success stories like you had with Musical Medley?!!

Kate - I'm finding that as I get plants both long potted and in the shade in the ground where it's sunny there are amazing results. I seriously need to downsize even more, and when I do most of the more recent acquisitions that are still considered hot and happening will be leaving. Musical Medley and All American Chief earn their keep. I just noticed Spanish Glow, and oldie that's been in too much shade for the last seven years has 27 buds this year in the full sun. I decided to give that one some prime real estate because I remembered how well it used to rebloom and how pretty the flowers looked at the end of a 99 degree day.

Julia - Thanks for the comment on Zuzu's Treasure. It's not a well budded this year as last, but the blooms are always pretty.

They are all so beautiful and my taste it's hard to pick a favorite. Well maybe Bat King wow so toothy and Clown Parade because who doesn't like it ) How interesting about Musical medley! I love it when those short registered ones actually grow taller.

English Lavender and Nordic Soul are the standouts to me.Too bad English Lavender doesn't increase.

I rather like the extra teeth on Bat King. I like Nordic Soul too, but don't I remember you saying it was a bit tender? Does not keep it from being beautiful, but i do try to stay away from that stress of trying to keep a plant alive. English Lavender is such a pretty color.

Nancy - Nordic Soul did not like the extended zero temps three winters ago. It has made it through the past two winters pretty well.

Brad - I agree it's strange English Lavender doesn't increase. I may move it to yet another spot after bloom ends.

Musical Medley speaks to the limits a pot puts on a plant . What a fantastic result from planting it out ! Regina Sitko and Porterhouse just jump off the page , my fav's for today.
