Cascade powder. ETA: Never have a problem with Cascade pods either.

I am using the generic Wegmans brand. Are you on a well? Could be something with your water.

We use Cascade pods with Bosch dishwasher and well water. No problems at all.

I always buy Finish gel pacs. My sister picked up some pods for me when I was running out, and she bought me what she always uses, Cascade Complete. I can’t tell the difference. Both are fine. By the way, these aren’t wrapped in plastic, they’re coated with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which dissolves completely in water and is easily degraded to CO2 and water with microbes in a water treatment facility. I have no idea why your brand did not dissolve. Might it be that they use another coating? They certainly seem to use more of it, with two components encapsulated in each pod.

I’m planning to try a more natural alternative, and I’ve checked out EWG’s list of options, but it takes me so long to get through a package of pods I am still months away.

Cascade Complete. I buy it at Costco. 15 yr old Kitchen Aid, city water. I know that dishwasher is probably approaching the end of its useful life, but it still works flawlessly for now.

I don't like pods in the laundry, but don't mind them in my dishwasher.

I use the Kirkland pods recommended above, they’ve done great in the three dishwashers I’ve owned in the last 8 years. (We are a large family, so more loads of dishes than average, shortens appliance lifespan... I had a kitchen aid dishwasher that worked great until it didn’t, then a total piece of crap LG that I bought for the huge tub, but it didn’t even last 2 years, and now I have a samsung that seems to be doing great. I consider dishwashers to almost be disposable appliances, LOL!)

Costco/Kirkland pods have been absolutely the best for me! I tried all the bigger name ones and decided to give this a try a few years ago. Now I won't buy anything else.

Cascade Platinum or Finish Quantum are my brands. I usually pick the one on sale. The only time I’ve ever had a pod not dissolve is if I load something that prevents the detergent door from opening fully.

Powder user here, Finish. I didn’t like that pods weren’t dissolving in the washing machine, so I didn’t want to try them in the DW, either.

Hey, KitchenAid fan club: I don’t have one, but my mother’s finally went kaput for good at age 47.

I was just at Costco and looked at their pods. Unlike the Cascade, they contain no rinse agent. So if you have harder water and want to avoid streaking, you'll need to add rinse agent to the dispenser in your machine. The Cascade may be more expensive, but includes the rinse aid.

Kirkland from Costco - yes, no rinse agent, but I prefer that. With other pods, I seemed to have excess and a chemical smell, but since I switched to the pods without and used the machine's normal dispenser for separate rinse agent, I don't have that problem. Cleans well, no residue, no undissolved pods.

The best I ever used was Kirkland's gel dishwasher detergent, but they seem to no longer have it available :( so I switched to their pods.

I ended up buying Cascade Free & Clear liquid on my grocery run. Little to choose from in the way of liquids, and I didn't see any powders. Will give it a try and see how it works.
