Drapes hung correctly?

Is it wrong that my sheers sit lower than my drapes? Should my drapes be shortened and lowered to be at exact same height as sheers?

I would want the top dark panels to be even with the white. I am not a fan of the wall gap between curtain panels and the rod one sees when the curtains are open. The wall gap makes much more sense above the rod.

I think the drapes are a good height.

In the daytime the gap is not noticeable. I think I would either get longer sheers or what I might more likely do is get a piece of removable wallpaper, in white to match the sheers, and fill in that gap. Then if anyone comments about it, i.e. company and such - I would ask them to leave. Anyone who is examining my window treatments that closely is a problem.

so, do I let some hem out of sheers and raise sheers with a new bracket or shorten dark drapes and lower them?

I think that the sheers under the panels are kind of an old-fashioned look. I'd replace the sheers with some sort of shades, like a bamboo or grass, like this:

Although my first thought would be to take down the sheers and put up some kind of shade,

I wouldn't worry about changing them right now to be "perfect", they still look nice and if "decoratoring divas" visit your home and notice this, so what!

They should be even at top, but don't think I'd want to go thru all the work of hemming and lowering the other one. Not to mention you'd have to fill in holes.

Altho I agree that shades would look more updated.

Are there shades or blinds that allow lots of natural light in while providing some privacy? I have four windows in the kitchen with wood blinds and I close all every night and open all every morning. I really don't want to do that to every window in house daily. I am curious, what and how does everyone use? May be time to change my ways.

    Two words: Solar Shades

I use motorized solar shades in my den to reduce/eliminate glare when we watch TV. The den has sliding pocket glass doors to my pool and there is substantial glare off the water. No other window treatments and the shades are hidden behind the shade header when up. I also use them in my master bedroom for privacy at night.

Thank you. solar shades are something to consider. Thanks to everyone for all the advice.

Are you using two separate rods? If so, invest in a double rod that will hang both sets at the same height.

yes, both are traverse rods. The outer is decorative and sheer rod is traditional.
