Matching wood finishes on buffet

I recently bought a rustic buffet for my dining room. It’s light wood and barely has any stain or finish on it. There’s something - maybe a light oil finish or wood stain but it’s minimal and it’s all sanding off easily. Complexity is in matching finish to my table. Adding pics of the buffet, my dining table and a comparison of the two.
Potential process:
I was going to sand the buffet, use a antique oak or or a very light grey beige stain and then a very light white wash.
Really like this piece and don’t want to mess it up. Would love some ideas and suggestions on the correct process and colors.

No need to match one to the other at all.

Is the last photo of the table? What do you have for chairs?

Tie both pieces together using accents from each.

@judyG I get what you’re saying. I plan on using different wood including black pieces as well throughout the space. Since I have the chance to re-stain this piece I’d like to tie this in a bit better with the table. I also have dark wood floors so I don’t want too many different shades in such a small area. In other words I do want to get this closer to the table.
