Is that saucer attached? Could it be impeding drainage? If attached, I'd rip the saucer off & set the plant on some newspapers to drain for a while. I'd also go gradually w/ the sun exposure, lest it burn.

I was wondering that myself, about the drainage. I'm going to move it into a different pot with some drier soil and a drainage hole. Thank you!

Hi Kelsey Sonefeld! I think that it may be a homalomena. I would bring it inside immediately, as it is a houseplant so the strong outdoor sun is likely the cause of the burnt leaves. Place it a sunny window, preferably east or west-facing, and water it when the top inch of soil is dry. I would fertilize once or twice a month during the growing season. Make sure that the pot has a drainage hole so that the water does not sit in the bottom of the pot which can cause root rot. They love humidity, so placing it on a humidity tray or putting it in your bathroom would be beneficial. I hope this helps!

I agree with Damask_Rose that it is a Homalomena, but disagree that it wants sun and drying. Shade, and constant moisture is their preference. Most of the genus are from streamside or swampy habitats. They seem to need a constant program of mild feeding to keep a good number of leaves.

I find them to be a pain in the nether regions, but if you are one who likes to water, maybe its a good plant for you.
