A pic would help ID it. Failing that, search on images of hardneck scapes and see if that’s what you have. If so , you can cut it off.

I tried uploading a couple pics but they wouldn't go through. I will try again. But I'm pretty sure they're not scapes. I found a thread on this website about the same exact thing, but it was from many years ago so I decided to start my own thread.

Try reducing the pic size and then load in the comments.

Well that does look like a bulb. I’ve not seen that on my hardnecks so maybe a soft neck thing. I’d leave it since trying to remove it may adversely affect the bulb in the ground. If no one here has a better answer try posting this in the Vegetable Forum.

I have seen that rarely happen before with my softneck garlic... I just ignored it. It's almost harvest time anyway. :)
