Seek the advice of a pool contractor. I am pretty sure you will be able to do it, the only unknown is cost!

Speak with a structural engineer versed in pool construction.

That pool wall was (hopefully) designed structurally to be supported by the soil surrounding it. The moment the soil is not intended to support a structure, the wall thickness, the schedule and the amount of reinforcement bar will change as now the wall is free standing.

The main issue is to prevent deflection in the wall from the weight of the pool water against it.

It is small area, and it may seem like over-kill, but it's worth an opinion of PE.
