Dark brown ranch.... Please help!

last modified: 6 years ago

Hi everyone! I am a long time lurker, but the first time poster. I bought this house about a year ago and absolutely can't stand the color. When we bought it, we didn't think much about the exterior color, because we figured we can just paint it. But, now, after living in it for 10 months or so, I can't stand the siding either. The house itself is a long ranch with low pitch roof, and was built in early 60s. I do not want to paint the brick. I find it pretty interesting. But, I am up for new siding, painting window frames, soffit and fascia, gutters, etc. The roof is brand new and I won't be replacing it. It is the generic shingle roof with reddish/brownish color. I would like the house to look and feel modern/contemporary. How can I achieve this? I have never done anything like this before, so I am doubting any ideas I have. I am also not sure what kind of siding this is and if getting new siding is possible (any issues associated with it??)... Anyway, if you have any ideas or suggestions -- I'd love to hear them. Thank you very much in advance!
