Curtains or no curtains?

I’m thinking of adding some white sheer Belgian flax curtains. One on each end and one in the middle. Should I do short curtains or long curtains? Or any curtains at all? I plan to have the rod sit higher to make the room look bigger.

Any suggestions, please let me know. I am a bit stumped.

Long curtains :) I think curtains will definitely look better than no curtains

Can you take a picture standing further back, showing a little more of the space?

    Hi Christina!

Do you think white would be choice color? My home is neutral - greys, creams, whites, taupes, silver coffee table with hints of gold/mustard in my abstract rug and my art work.

Agree — long. Curtains will really define that wall and soften the area.

It may just be the angle of the photo, but it looks like you’ll have to bring your sofa forward a bit.

    Hey Jinx,

Yes, currently my couch is flushed so I will have to bring it out!

Another thing, is that the curtain on the left will be visible from top to bottom as the curtains that will sit behind the couch won’t. Will that be a little weird visually?

I love white curtains, off white would also look good, it's hard to see if your fuzzy pillow is white or off white but either one would look good, I definitely wouldn't go dark on the curtains.

Yes, my fuzzy pillow white. I’m also swapping out the gray pillows with a golden mustard color to bring that out from my rug

That will be pretty! Definitely white then, it'll be crisp and clean looking. Just adding the curtains and changing out the pillows will change the space and make it look very clean but also cozy.

Also, with adding curtains to both ends should I put one in the middle since they are two separate windows?

I don’t think it’ll look weird at all. I’d just be certain to have enough panels for bulk.

Just try them on either side, and then with one in the middle, and see what you think. I like both looks, but it’s hard to say not being in the space. You’ll have to see if having one in the middle looks too “heavy” for the area.

I want to say yes but the right side doesn't have much wall for the curtains so adding a middle one might make it look too small but on the other hand it'll make it look like one window. I would test it first if you have any curtains you can pull from other rooms first.

I used to have a setup very similar to yours. I had long curtains and I feel they really pulled the room together. I also used throw pillows to go with the curtains.

I’m loving the ivory With the subtle gray stripes and I thought for a splash of mustard I can snag some velvet or chenille accent pillows to throw with it And just use the fringe yellow pillows elsewhere!

    Thoughts on this color?

If you don't need drapes for privacy, for the summer (northern hemisphere?) you might consider beginning with sheers or semi-sheers (with rod pockets) on a double rod wider than the window so that when you do add drapes, you can open the drapes to cover the window frames but leave the glass and natural light visible through the sheers.

Choosing white sheers now, you could take your time finding the drapes you like between now and winter.

    White linen, long.

Not sure the "gold" semi-sheer will look that great with a gray sofa. Perhaps you could take a sofa pillow to the store with you to look at them in bright light side by side to see if they give you the look you want.

There are a lot of gray and white combinations you might consider.
