Can't you hem the 6"? I wouldn't pool--it's a dust nightmare, especially if there are pets.

Just grazing the floor is better than puddling on the floor. If the panels have a decent depth hem you may be able to lengthen them a little

Hang them all the way to the highest point in the room. Above both transoms. Skip the grommets. Place them on the pole or on rings. The proper length for panels is actually just above the floor. They will look like they are touching the floor but actually aren't.

Grommets are great for bathroom shower curtains, not attractive enough for your extremely nice home. Agree they belong above the transoms, not dividing the windows. Then they should reach to the floor. It's very hard to find pre hemmed drapes that work in all situations. If you can find longer ones then hem them that can be less expensive than custom.

I love the look of your dining area without curtains. Actually I like both rooms without curtains.

I would consider plantation shutters. You don’t have room in dining room for panels to fit on each side at least with current furnishings. The dining room looks very country in styling. The living room appears more modern from what I can see. I like front windows to be treated in same way so white plantation shutters in both windows. If you decide on drapery, no grommets. They need much more room to fit smoothly. Space you don’t have.

Thank you all for your input. I've had shutters and don't like that you never have an unobstructed view. I'll skip the grommets and hang above the transom and have the hem just at the floor. I was trying to avoid re-hemming but may have to go that route.

That can work in living room but are you keeping the corner cabinet and rack in dining room? If so, the drapery will hang in front of windows unless that furniture is moving out.
