Hmm. Thanks. The water goes through the timer and a pressure reducer and backflow preventer before it gets to the tubing. I could probably figure out the gpm of the distribution tubing but not sure how I would know how much the emitters put out. Currently there are two eight-foot lengths of emitter tubing with 6” spacing on the holes, on each timer. Is this something the mfr. would specify? Or would I have to figure it out with a length of tubing and a bucket? I’ll be adding about 60 ft. of 1/2 inch tubing and maybe another 10-12 feet of emitter tubing to one of the timer setups. Also thinking of tapping into it to fill the birdbath automatically. Getting lazy in my old age.

just did some figures and with your additions you should only be using about 1/2 a gallon a min. and your hose bib should have at least a 5 to 10 gpm output.

Thanks so much. I didn’t think the drip emitters used much, I run the 4 foot window boxes for 30 minutes at a time and the water reservoirs in the bottom fill up and overflow but there isn’t a large amount of water running out the bottom drain holes of the boxes. I appreciate your help.

Well, now that that’s out of the way, how the heck do you get the 1/2 inch compression fittings onto the 1/2 inch distribution tubing?? We used tees before for the window boxes, with some difficulty as I recall, but are finding it IMPOSSIBLE to get the nuts to go over the tubing and onto the threads on the fittings this time. We tried putting the tubing/fitting in hot water to soften them up, didn’t work. Are we missing something?? I ended up using a barbed plug on the end that I had on hand but there is no replacement for the tee in the line. HELP!!

there are a couple different types of connectors that very slightly by brand. if you remember the brand of tubing you need to match the right connector to that brand.

Figured it out. Permalock fitting. If all else fails, google the instructions.
