A lot of issues to overcome in this design. Is that a one piece liner continuing up the back wall and side of the steps? Do the railroad ties on the back go down to the Pond level and hopefully below? I’m guessing you want to keep seepage from above from entering your pond?

yes its all one piece liner. The railroad ties do not go down all the way maybe halfway down the wall. The liner is covering a wooden board I added to keep the dirt back.

So, there’s exposed dirt below the RR ties and behind your backer board down to the top if the pool’s edge? Just trying to get a mental picture. Do you get much rain where you live?

If this is the case, I’d worry about your back wall failing. Your wooden board will rot and fail if it gets wet. You could use Marine plywood or metal, something less likely to rot. You might be able to put green board on the liner and then tile it or put a faux rock facade on it.

Yeah I like the faux rock idea. I live in pennsylvania we get about 40 inches per year I believe. The wood board is treated and will eventually fail hoping for atleast a decade of use atleast.
