Blooming on Monday

It's a hot humid day here in Indiana. The flowers are beginning to suffer because of the heat and lack of rain. It rained all day the Saturday before the fourth, but we are dry now. Still new flowers open every day.

I wish the hybridizer had not named this one A Tale of Two Purples. Both parents are purple and I guess it's a joke since it isn't. This was a gift plant from the Northern Mecca tours last summer. It's doing really well and the flowers are quite nice.

This was a very small bonus plant a couple of seasons ago. The plant is still small, but the flower is large. This is its first flower to every open for us.

Dennis Russell is a plant I looked for for several years (I am too cheap to buy it from the hybridizer). It was new to the garden last spring and its not at full strength yet, but I am happy with it.

Last Snowflake is registered as late, but it never blooms late for us. It never has many flowers, but they are large and lovely.

Lincoln Andres was going to get pollinated today, but it doesn't have a pistil.

Oklahoma Sand Burr was nice this morning.

Bob and I are getting into dip ufs, especially the intros of Margo Reed and Jim Murphy. This is Jim's One More Bud.

This picture doesn't do Spirit of Halloween justice. It is much more vibrant orange. It's in a spot in the shade in the morning when I am usually taking pictures, and I can't get the true color even with the white card trick.
Vivian Glass is new to the garden. It belongs to our daughter.

I guess we will name this one seedling Queen today. Bob is happy to see this one because it comes out of his Fulva breeding program. It is Fulva 'Korean' x Transylvanian Tango) X Crimson Stories. He is happy to get a modern face (with teeth even) in a second generation from fulva.

Here's another seedling we liked. This is Sonoran Desert Rose X (Belle of Ashwood X Cactus Blossom).

I absolutely love Spirit of Halloween, even if your pic is not as bright as the real deal. I can see it's SC Francis Busby heritage in the watermark and ruffles. It is my favorite one by leaps and bounds. Don't you hate it when you go to pollenate, and there's no pistil? I had a lot of that early in the season. Bob should proud of that seedling queen coming from his Fulva program.

My favorite a Tale of Two Purples. I just glanced at the name of it without reading your words, and kept looking, why isn't it purple. I never read the instructions first, LOL. Spirit of Halloween is lovely.

Did I miss it somewhere? What is the name of your peachy bonus plant (2nd one down)? I like the color............I like Vivian Glass too, and a Tale of Two Purples. I like daylily names with their color in the title, but this would confuse me.........That's a very good picture of Oklahoma Sand Burr btw..................Maryl

Both seedlings are great. I’m done waiting for one of Bobs Fulva seedlings to be queen for the day. I like Jims One More Bud, it has a neat looking edge.

Wow I like every flower you chose for today, very hard to pick a favorite. Maybe Oklahoma Sand Burr and Spirit of Halloween. Remarkable Fulva seedling queen!

The name may not fit but A Tale of Two Purples looks really good! Of course I like Last Snowflake and Oklahoma Sand Burr looks aptly named!! Seedlings look good too!!
