I would be putting in track, if you can not do recessed. You could hang one pendant from the track and then add additional wall washing light.

Ideally, I would you tech rail lighting and probably only do the wall washing directional fixtures but you can have pendants as well. Otherwise,

you can do track.

You could also do Tech cable lighting

I am not so much a fan of cable lighting, it sags over time, and requires more parts and support, rail is much more versatile in terms of appendages and choices.
