PLEASE HELP I AM STUMPED

this home we bought is such a poorly designed , no balance . I want to open up the doors and balance out the fireplace it's just stupid looking put refridge in the workspace
my husband says all I need to do I paint the cupboard doors he says I'm crazy . please give me some ideas that won't cost more then house
