I remember years ago my grandpa was disgusted with his non-bearing lemon tree. So he heard that if you strip a 1" half circle of bark from the trunk, the tree will think it's dying and start producing. He tried it and it worked, but he was ready to kick it to the curb anyway, so it was ok with him.

The tree went on to produce and 50 years later, it's going strong.

Beats me why you need two lemons anyway. We have two and I can't possibly use all of them. The neighbors and family are sick of them too.

Ours are standard size. One I think was grown from a seed. It produces 1"-2" lemons by the dozens for months. I love that little tree. Every night I squeeze one on a green salad with olive oil, salt and pepper and it's free salad dressing. The other one has huge lemons and we squeeze and freeze the juice. They are both culinary. Not sweet Meyers.

They need feeding.

I was thinking they are getting too much nitrogen... all the effort is into growing leaves.

No, interveinal chlorosis indicates lack of Iron, Manganese or Zinc. Soil alkalinity could also be in play.

I have been feeding them Citrus Tone, Epsom Salt and chelated Iron foliar spray every spring and summer.
