My children has swim lessons in their teacher's home basement. I also personally tried it. I am an old dog paddler trying to swim freestyle. It allowed me to swim at a very gentle pace and I preferred the Endless pool because there were no bubblong noises to distract me. I felt serene everytime I got in.

The teacher kept it covered except during use to keep the humidity in the room down and maintain a decent bathwater temperature to keep energy costs down. She also kept the door shut and used a room dehumidifier. All drywall surrounding the area was the kind rated for humid enironments. They kept the base concrete but had it buffed. They added a large natural fiber rug beside it. The pool was located near double doors to the outside, and had a raised stairs/platform to allow one to step in from above the pool, and also have access to the mechanism.

I wonder if you went through with your purchase and how the install went. I intend to get one for our basement in a few years: for the convenience of exercising with privacy, and for lounging regardless of the weather outside.

Suggest you look for deals on gently used ones or get on a list at your local dealer, who might call with a deal on one (for e.g. cancelled orders, etc). I read that you must choose contractors carefully and that support from the vendor during and after installation may not be so great once they have your money. So plan on being closely involved in the process.
