This is the front siding of the house. The front siding is made of 5/8" plywood, with vertical wooden batten. The rough idea is between the battens everywhere. Please see photo for the whole front of the house (original in the link below). Thanks for your help

Did you use an orbital sander like this? With like 80 grit?

I was hoping for simpler solution than replacing the whole siding. No, we are not doing the stone. We will just keeping the vertical siding, removing the white shutters, and painting around the windows's trim black.

Any suggestions to improve the curb appeal?

That plywood typically comes textured by design.

My sister had to use a heat gun to remove paint on a area of her home that was in bad shape for repainting, sanding would have been impossible. It was peeling and lifting on most of the south side of home. It is at least 60+ year old home but wood inself in good shape, unbelievablely good, it is redwood, not a speck of rot even where there should have been. It was only on the south facing, lap wood siding. Time consuming, at least it wasn't a huge area.

Yes, redwood siding, I had never heard of this in Minnesota before. And they were thinking of residing rather than deal with some areas of peeling.

I do not think I will be doing the heat gun thing. It is almost 300 square feet. I tried the heat gun for one foot, and I got tired :). The wood is 5/8" plywood. It was rotten at the bottom. So I removed the rotten part, which is about 5". The vertical battens were redwood. They were very dry, and I damaged most of them when I removed them.

Yes, that what my friend said, but the top portion, close to the roof is smooth. I just could not get it out, using sander and 40 grits. I just painted it for now. Later on, I might change the whole thing to sidings or stucco. Thank you for the insight.
