@Yalero, you have to keep in mind that most professionals on Houzz have a limited experience with or knowledge of anything IKEA, and this makes perfect sense since IKEA puts all of these items directly in the hands of the consumer. Do a little more research on the different under-cabinet lighting options IKEA has to offer, and eventually someone who has used them will stop by and post.

I haven’t used them, but my kitchen is still in pieces and my lighting plan is still forming. That said, I will probably choose LED lighting for my space.

The best way to pick you undercabs is to talk to your KD about what they use, or it sounds like your electrician may have some options. Also make a trip to a lighting showroom and get a scope on what they like. I have always liked Kichler undercabs, but there are a lot of options.

I’m an IKEA fan and a DIYer. If you’re close to IKEA, why don’t you pick some up and give them a try by just taping them under your cabinets temporarily? You can always return them if you don’t like them.

Just make sure you buy all the necessary parts (power cord, driver, etc.) Check with a kitchen associate if you’re not sure. If you like them, they’re easy to install yourself, assuming you have outlets in convenient locations.

I've had IKEA under cabinet lights for the last 4 years and I love them. Since LED's don't have replaceable bulbs, the entire unit would have to be removed. So I like that I can run the cords and conceal them and plug them in. I have the Omlopp lights and love them. After looking at the reviews for the one you like, I would get them.

Our electrician, old guy, was having kittens over over the installation. Fantastic electrician, we breezed through inspection, but "this crazy Ikea stuff" had him in a dither.

The idea of testing them is good I find often the Ikea LEDs are warm and I prefer a 4000K lighting system in my kitchens I design . That to me is the most important part BTW I do lots of Ikea kitchens but not always their lighting or counters.

I have the Stromlinje UC lights in my laundry room along with Ikea cabs. Granted that the most I'm doing is looking at stains on clothes :) but I think they provide plenty of light. And I'm 60 with old eyes that need a lot of light nowadays. The lights have two light levels which is very nice for ambient light. We liked them so much that DH put them on top of the laundry cabs as well for a night light kind of use.

My cabs have no trim on the bottom and you can't see the lights at all standing up. If you have a table nearby, you would likely be able to see the lights but I think that would be true of any UC lights. I also made sure the lights were installed at the front edge of the cabs.

im not a snob, thanks for that. I just understand lighting, it was my profession for years. They are hard to install, because well its just like anything else from them...parts and instructions, mostly they are not really tailored to ease.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I know the thread is old, but I am loving the Stromlinje under-cabinet lights from Ikea. They are also definitely NOT 3000k as Ikea says, nearer to 4000k for sure.
