Doug this looks great! Would you recommend brick border or stamped concrete? The stamped concrete is much less expensive but not sure how it would look.

Personally, I would remove the brick planter, if possible. I like walkways that incorporate brick to tie in with any brick features visible on the home. You have that chimney and I would think a walkway incorporating brick would look very good.

Personal preference: I very much dislike stamped concrete, but I know folks who love it, so go with what you think will be prettiest. I'm surprised the stamped concrete was cheaper than the brick edging, that was not the case for us. Cost is so variable depending on the location.

I would use stamped concrete.

It's not a good place for the planter. It crowds the door in addition to being useless for real plants. I agree with Doug that this is a good location for stamped concrete. Mortared brick would work well, too (but more expensive.)

Thank you all for the suggestions. We are going with stamped concrete that looks just like real brick. I will upload when finished.
