Yes! I've been wearing a sweater last evening and all day today, inside and out! But I'm far from complaining; I think it's been a nice treat. Yesterday was indeed beautiful! But we are forecast to have temps around 93-95 degrees this weekend. So I am enjoying my sweater lol. Much rather would prefer to wear a sweater than to actually sweat!

No, I'm not complaining either, I just find it fascinating to go from the heat to the cold in July. [g]. I agree, not fond of the 90s. 56F is pretty cool for July.

We're cold and very damp here. Moisture all throughout the whole cold house. But, we've been cool for a while. The heat waves are missing us.

Well, that didn't last long. Cool weather with light rain (about 1/4 inch) was a lovely respite from July temperatures. I even wore my rain jacket when I went out to feed the birds and I stayed dry underneath (no sweat).

Today the heat is starting. I pulled all the curtains closed on the east side of the house to block the morning sun and I'll do the same on the west side this afternoon.

I'm counting on the Bay to keep the temperatures down a little (good Bay! you're a good Bay!).

In NH today for an appt and it is 90. Just two hours north our house will not get above 80 probably. Don’t know why the heat is staying south of us this year, but ALL MY SYMPATHIES to you all!

It didn't last long at all lol! Not nearly long enough for me! I too have pulled all the curtains and blinds (a few times, as my husband keeps opening them lol. He doesn't seem to get that it has to be dark to be kept cool(er). He hates the darkness, and I get it, but while he's been off working long hours in air conditioned spaces for all these years, I've been working at home with no AC all that time, and I know the tricks to keeping this house cool. So I just keep going around behind him re-closing everything lol. I really miss my triple-trunk oak tree this time of year. It helped shade the house and keep it a bit cooler.

The worst thing is it was supposed to rain yesterday and it didn't. And for some odd reason it didn't hit me till about 10 am this morning that the garden was dry (thought of it yesterday but figured the rain would take care of it). So I had to do what I call "survival watering" - giving all the plants enough to get through the day (many already wilting at 10 am) and tonight I will water thoroughly. Boy it was already blazing hot in that 10 am sun!

Claire, my houseplants got a full dose of sun for the three days it was cool enough not to pull all the shades down. I do the windows facing East and then West on hot days, too. I think it makes a big difference.

It is 90F on our back porch @ 3:30p. [g] Back to the heat wave, but it was a really nice reprieve. No house fan tonight!

Dee, we lived in a house with a pool while I was in middle and high school and we never turned the a/c on all summer. We were always in the pool. [g]. That was our trick. My mom always pulled all the shades down. On hot, sticky days, I also close the windows and the shades on the sunny side. We love those oscillating standing fans and have a ceiling fan in the dining room.

We’re still on a water ban and can only water between the hours of 6-10pm Saturdays and Tuesdays. We can water by hand though…or any vegetable gardens. I just don’t enjoy watering at night that late. I’d rather do it in the morning.
