I finally got a picture of Samsational that shows its color accurately. It is one bright flower. I imagine it would be 'all the rage' if it were widely available in the U. S.

Bob wanted Sun Giant because we saw it in Trimmer's garden in Florida. It was 4 feet tall with very large flowers. The flowers are large here too, but it obviously doesn't like our climate much.

Tech Colors has finally bloomed for us. This plant started out the year very puny but seems to be making a comeback. The first Tech Colors we had turned out to be something else. Finally we have the right one.

The Dentist did so well last year and then this year started out puny also. It seems to be doing better. This is it's normal time to start blooming

We didn't have time to take pictures of many seedlings, but we did take a few. Here is the seedling Queen for today. It is Susan Ruoff X Carrots Forever. As you might imagine, Bob loves this one.

I might have shown this one before, but it makes me happy so I'll show it again. It is Sonoran Desert Rose X Crimson Stories.

I think my favorite of the ones I don't have is Princess of Alexandria. I remember liking that one in the past two. My favorite of the seedlings is The Sonoran Desert Rose baby. Your photo of Ruby Grandeur did capture the shade of red exactly. I used to have that one, but it died in a pot. I recall is did have great bud counts.

Maryl, I imagine Samsational is going to next to impossible to find for several years. Ours is just one fan so we won't be dividing it any time soon. Bonnie Nichols of Oak Hill Garden has it too, but she got hers at the same time we did (last spring). One other person has posted it on Facebook. I don't believe the hybridizer ships to the U. S.

Ruby Grandeur is available from Richard Norris, the hybridizer. We have been in his garden nearly every summer for years and have never observed rust. It wouldn't overwinter anyway in his area.

It's funny but many hybridizers like Richard do not maintain a large collection of daylilies other than their own. Buying the daylilies from the south is what gets us in trouble with rust. This year--so far, so good!

I like the Sonoran Desert Rose seedling. I think the color pulls me in. I also like the color on Samsational. Ruby Grandeur is a great red.

Thanks Nan for the information on those two daylilies. I especially appreciate the rust information on Richard Norris as I like so many of his daylilies (my Mary's Baby came from him before I had rust and went on a strick no rust diet). Ruby Grandeur is now on my list with a source next to it.......I've dealt with Bonnie before at Oak Hill and she is a delight and also usually rust free in the spring. I'll keep checking with her, although I doubt I could/would afford a new hybrid's price.... Not to belabor the rust part, but you are right about people up north importing from the south. I would never buy a daylily in the fall for example from people who import from the south during that same year. And that can be so tempting because about now, after seeing everyone's gorgeous daylilies, I want them all .........Maryl
