Repairing mouse damage

We have had a pervasive mouse problem since moving into our home in April 2019. We now have many places along the floor that are stuffed with copper mesh and caulk, which I don't want to keep forever because they're ugly. Is repairing mouse hole damage just a matter of putting new baseboards on our walls, or is it more extensive than that?

Before repairing hole damage along the floor, make sure mice/rats are not still in the attic, walls or crawl space (if applicable) and all access to those areas have been closed.

In my experience, mice are usually damaged at the keyboard connector.
